Check out our Cushibags! Now recovering from broken wrist!

After breaking my wrist mid July it's been a tough old time at Gala Cottage. Out flying a kite at the beach and managed to trip over a log - then mangled hand and arm as radius broke clean off...lovely. Back sewing again today for the first time in ages. Added this to my website... take a look...half cushion half bag! x

Getting up to date with orders

As I'm going to take a little time for mat leave and getting some new bits on the website, I am working on clearing the orders that I currently have. Bunting for a local gala and a nursery sports day is next on the agenda. Plus lots of birthdays this month so i need to get making some gifts for these. I'll pop them on here once they are done.  Here's some finishing touches pics.

Plus fathers day so making some cushions for this too. Busy times...x

Revamping the website etc so hopefully back on track for end of July to tkae more orders. Sometimes it's refreshing to take stock and get cracking with new ideas eh...

Thank you so much to Coco Rose for this lovely award! It really lifted my spirits and made me smile. It's nice to feel appreciated and boosted my confidence. I am going to make a point today to sit down and nominate some other blogs for an award as you guys really keep me inspired. Thank you again.  I'm off to find my top ten blogs x

Nautical Star Bunting

Another personalised bunting completed earlier this week for a bedroom. At least one task completed. Now need energy to get the rest of the orders done.....hope baby sleeps!

What a lovely day!

The first day where I don't have to wait in for midwives/health visitors/workmen so me Gregor and Moray popped out to the local country park for some fresh air this morning then out for a walk this afternoon. My reasons being slightly selfish though as I need to get back to work on the Gala Cottage products with a shop interested and orders building up it's very frustrating not to have the time to sit at the machine and when I do, I seem to be making a mess of things.

So here is for some focus in the coming weeks to get back on track. If any one has any tips on how to stay focussed when working from home, please pass them on as I would really like to hear them. I have the kids in a strict routine and can normally get from 8pm onwards to work (stopping for feeds every 3-4 hours) but I am just so tired it doesn't always go to plan.

Plus I am looking for some places that do nice country/nautical style fabric and ribbons. Any suggestions would be welcomed.....

Hope you all had a lovely summers day today!

Baby Moray is here!

There is a new addition here at Gala Cottage and i'll be having a wee rest from the sewing for a few days till I get settled.

Moray arrived on Saturday at 1.45pm and weighed in at 7lbs 6ounces. After them breaking my waters he arrived exactly 4 hours later...another short labour!

Something a little patriotic...

I thought I would pop on something to compliment the union jack cushion and a saltire was the suggestion. Here's my attempt with some alternative fabrics. Baby still not here and I am really tired. I am so wanting to try and get more creations added to the site but I am afraid it's bed time for me. Fat ankles and leaky boobs and baby not even here yet!

Union Jack Cushion in Spots and Gingham

Another finished product on the website before this baby comes along. I wonder how much longer he will give me before he arrives?

3 weeks till this baby is due. In shock!

I'm either in shock or in denial. Not sure why it hasn't hit me in the last 9 months that I am actually going to have a baby at the end of this but for some reason I am starting to panic now.

I've been taking my mind off it with hitting the sewing machine and working on the website. Today I've added on the photo of our country hearts and our wrapping etc plus sorting out the paypal side of things. Will get there eventually.

Also had 4 orders in the past 2 days so that is very promising.

Here's some pics and a link to the site....

Lavender country hearts with initial.

How we wrap your bunting....with a co-ordinating fabric and thick brown paper.

Personalised Bunting

I'm getting there with getting the pics sorted of the bunting. Here is the bunting that I put together for Gregor's room. Have gone with a nautical theme in his room and wanted something a bit bolder to stick out from all the blues in his room.

Website in Place - Just need to get the pics on now!

With me trying to get the nursery ready and looking for new ideas for Gregor's room has left me fascinated with bunting. I already had some in the garden so decided to make some for the boy's rooms and also for the house and garden. Now I am addicted so decided to open it up and see if anyone else was looking for some.

Have a look at the website and although under construction over the next few weeks you'll see more of the bunting that I have done and also some of the gifts coming up for Christmas etc.

Here is the ones I have in the garden. I've yet to get the other photos uploaded but hope to have them on in the next few days.

The fabrics here are very Cath Kidston-ish and the bunting and gifts that you will see from me will all be with a country/nautical theme to them with a bit of shabby chic here and there. The personalised bunting has gone down really well so I hope to get that on here quickly.

Hope to update soon.

3 and a half weeks till baby comes! Yikes!

35 weeks!

Here is Gregor and his little brother that will hopefully be here in approx 5 weeks! We've had a quiet Easter Weekend. Gregor was at Arran's birthday party on Saturday and had a brilliant time! Iain and I headed off to the cinema to watch Clash of the Titans in 3D which was pretty good except for someone in the row in front pumping and making an awful smell! Gregor and I have been at home this week making arts and crafts stuff. Gregor has his own scissors so is loving cutting up just now! We've made cards and a bracelet for granny.

34 weeks!

Well only approx 6 weeks to go and it's all go at home trying to get everything in it's place for baby coming. Gregor had his birthday party a few weeks ago and I've also had the pamper party with the girls where Jen came and treated us all to her massages. If you fancy having a party, check out her site http://www.astaramassage.co.uk/. This week we've been putting up blinds and moving furniture. Now have moses basket and baby bath thing so that's everything bought for baby arriving. Now for some quality time as a family before things get hectic. A lovely day chilling out watching the rugby then off for some dinner yesterday followed by a drive and a lucas icecream.

We also had a power cut so stayed in a hotel whilst our heating and electricity was off. Took Gregor swimming in the hotel and chilled out there for the day - here is a pic with the bump and Gregor. We've also been to Steven and Zoe's wedding.

Pirates and Princesses Party!

Gregor now has his pirates costume for his 3rd Birthday Party on Sunday. We just need to get a gun to go with the sword and he would like a parrot for his shoulder. Need to find some nice princess tiaras too for mum and Gregor says that daddy has to be a King (which I am sure Iain will love). Just the food, balloons etc to sort out...... Off into Edinburgh to see what treats they have for us. Must also make up the treasure map for the chocolate coins.....doh....need chocolate coins too!

He had a great party and was very lucky to have his friends there and get lots of lovely gifts. The treasure hunt went down well and the kids had a chance to get out in the garden in their lovely costumes!

It's the Weekend!

Gone are the days of long lies and this baby makes sure that I don't get to sleep for longer than 2 hours at a time without getting up to the loo or getting kicked to bits. Gregor up for rugbytots first thing and had a whale of a time. Having a lazy morning then off to tire this child out this afternoon in the fresh air!

Thursday 18 February 2010

Sunday at North Berwick

We had a lovely afternoon out on Sunday to North Berwick for a wander round the shops and a walk along by the beach. Followed by a chippy and an icecream!

Valentine's Weekend

Another Valentine's weekend has passed and Iain and I headed off to Barony Castle for a night and took Gregor to see his new baby brother via a 3d/4d scan at Babes In The Womb. Absolutely amazing to see the pics of our new baby 12 weeks before he is due to be born!

We've decided on a name too so that Gregor is already getting used to the prospect of his new baby brother.
